Sri Sankara Eye Hospital, Pammal, Chennai was established in 1994 (www.kannoli.net) and registered as a Public Charitable Trust in 2004. With the blessings of Their Holiness Sankaracharyas of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam to provide high quality eye care. A modern tertiary eye care hospital with 140 beds with a significant focus on community ophthalmology – over 2,31,000 cataract surgeries were performed free of cost to rural under privileged people. Further a strong process is in place around patient care both pre and post operative as well as out-patient management.
Today the Hospital has a branch at Nanganallur, Chennai since June 2014. It is a Self Sustaining fully developed Centre with facilities for carrying out Cataract operations and some minor procedures. Further we have established a modern tertiary eye care hospital in Samarjhola, South Odisha in June 2016 to address the eye care needs of the under served villages of Ganjam and surrounding districts. We also have vision Centres set up at Perambur, Madhavaram, Triplicane Kanchipuram of Tamil Nadu and Berhampur & Chatrapur of Odisha to extend services to the population in and around that area.
Shri Sankara Kripa Educational and Medical Trust, a new hospital was Inaugurated on 30 Sep 19 by Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu. The hospital was setup as ABCD Hospital (Adi Bhagavadpada Cardiac and Dialysis Hospital) in 2009. The Hospital renamed as Sankara Multispeciality Hospital in early 2019
The objective is to provide relief and succor to the needy population in and around Kanchipuram. The Hospital has been extending emergency care for cardiac patients and dialysis facilities for patients with kidney disorders. We have provided Dialysis free of cost close to 80% of patients.
